The open road is like a modern man’s song line and Nick Cummins was brought to this road by a dream that a big rock in the desert was calling to him. It still calls to him now as he goes in search of the stories from the bottom end of Australia; From The Great Australian Bight, to the Nullarbor and The Great Southern.
The place is ancient, the experience mesmerising, even enchanting, the journey vast and filled with legendary traveller’s tales they take us through a series of landscapes that are breathtaking and alive. But Nick is not here just for the scenic wonders.
Nick is gathering stories of the place, grasping hold of a cultural baton and passing it onto us to reveal and preserve the remarkable, the surprising and the unforgettable people and events, that piece by piece we will knit together to eventually define this timeless place, Australia.
EPISODE TWO
Meanwhile In Australia: The Top Right is the second in a series of travel shows that feature The Honey Badger, Nick Cummins on a road trip around the outside of Australia.
This Episode, ‘The Top Right’ is a trip through Far North Queensland from Airlie Beach and The Whitsundays to Townsville and Magnetic Island, through the banana plantations and cane country of Innisfail, whitewater rafting down the Tully River, swimming in haunted water holes in Babinda and short detour out to magnificent luxury of Lizard Island and finally the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation.
It is a story about how the people match the place, how the characters melt into the landscape until the two seem to become dependant on each other to define who they are. Or something like that, The Honey Badger just wants to have a yarn to them as makes his way North through some of the most breathtaking and internationally recognised places on earth.
